Multiple Monday Series- #14 Seven years of bad blender luck

My husband pulls out his mother's, mother's food processor and says, "do we need this anymore?"
Double take...I didn't initiate that question.
I instinctively respond, "No".
Inside my head I am thinking...thats the machine I make the Christmas grasshopper pie in and the machine that shreds carrots for homemade carrot cake.
While we are on the topic, do we need the regular blender now that we have the industrial Vitamix?

We both agree that a simple grater and the vitamix can subsitiute both machines above.
I sent an email to both sons and asked if either would like a blender or a food processor.
To my surprise, one of them said I could store the blender for him.
That was before the car bumped the donation bag.
The blender fell out and rolled under the car and I proceeded to run over it.

500 square foot house

Hard to believe this house has only 500 square feet.
After seeing the inside photos and layout, there seems to be room for everything.
First floor layout.

Love the huge kitchen windows and long counter with modern backsplash.500-sqaure-ft-house
The second floor is an interesting place for the living room.
Great place for reading or for a snoring person like me.
I would cut the size of the balcony so there would be room to make the bed...this part seems too tight.
A modern bright bathroom.

Wake up call

My friend on facebook reminds me how having a closet cave-in can help weed out the wardrobe.

Multiple Monday Series- #13 Grilling for two.

When it comes to downsizing for me, there is one important rule, only mess with my own stuff.
What other's bring along in their journey, is not of my concern or judgement.

My spouse is a "preserver," and I am a "terminator," when it comes to material possessions.

So when I came across two of these charcoal starters for the grill,
I only allow myself to say, "are you keeping this second starter for a reason?

No surprise, his answer was, "let's keep it if the other one breaks."

My clutter book sites this thinking as the number one reason we keep things.
She claims, by keeping things "just in case", indicates a lack of trust in the future.
The future with an eagle scout means he can fix he did below with those two screws.

Keeping with the grill theme, the following image should repulse me, but it just makes me smile.
When the world comes to an end, and there is no power, we will grill...yes we will grill.

There is hope. Just recently this pelican case and the three hole punch ended up in the giveaway box.

Happy PARK(ing) Day!

May I bring your attention to this new holiday I discovered called PARKing Day that is happening today September 20th.

The event started as an insulation and has grown to over 35 countries.  The premise is to turn a parking spot into a park for a day.  Participants have done many creative things with their parking spot in the past:

Apple could learn a few tricks from Phonebloks

I know half of my family will be upgrading their phone with the release of the new iPhones tomorrow. Phonebloks has a unique approach to upgrading that makes sense to me.

Mell Lawrence Architects

I was struck with all the award winning small projects of Mell Lawrence Architects.
My favorite is.... Mod Cot on the Lake.

Multiple solar panels collects enough energy for it's basic uses.
The decor has a mix of industrial steel against warm wood paneling.
Every cabin should include a bathtub.

Multiple Monday Series- #12 Back again Backgammon

I glanced at the games shelf while vacuuming and did a double take.'s not....
How is it possible for someone to live under the roof with three (minus one from last week) backgammon games and not know it? Not to mention this one is life-sized.
Someone is messing with me.

Pass it on.

Leftover from a party years ago with no sharpie name tattooed on the bottom.

Add a batch of triple chunk brownies,

and I can change the world with my own sharpie message.

Multiple Monday Series- #11 Back-to-backgammon

two backgammon travel game boards
My husband labeled this a, "classic game everyone should know how to play".

A quick survey revealed none of my kids have ever played or know how to play backgammon.

During the past week I made a conscious effort to corral as many people to play as possible.

First there was the husband-wife game. It was delightful, fun, and I didn't even win.

I brought it along to the cabin where not only one game, but over four back-to-backgammon games were enjoyed.

You should try it, it's a classic.
