Monday Multiple Series # 67-Value plus

Either we pay $5 down the street for one more pack of felt pads, or we pay two dollars more on Amazon and get a lifetime supply.

Monday Multiple Series # 66-Sew what?

For years the scenario has been the same.
Go to sewing box.
Search for white thread.

The only white thread is heavy quilters thread.

Grab a bobbin full of old thread and complete project .

Then it hits me.
I can't do this I fling a bobbin down the hallway and start removing all the old thread.

The flood gates are open and the sewing kit is being torn apart.
Why is only one needle wrapped in paper?

When there is a whole set to use?

and two more....

The donate pile grew quickly as I rid myselft of leftover thread from bridesmaid dresses, high school outfits that I sewed and all the "just in case extras" of gromets, fabric and crap.

The coveted tomato that holds the pins was empty.

I threw it all in a baggie to donate.

I headed to a fabric store where I bought  lifetime supply ( 3 rolls) of white thread and brand new pins for the tomato. One spool was used to make a fleet of white thread bobbins. There. Done.
My husband came to me this weekend and said. "Where are all my spools of thread?" The brown one, the khaki one and the Navy blue?" Right back to the store we went and a new set was bought.
The cycle continues.

Monday Multiple Series # 63-I'm on a roll

Clutter is a sign of unfinished projects.

Take this box I just found in the linen closet:

Thanks to this Pinterest post to make a homemade advent calendar, I had made it my mission to collect toilet paper rolls for months. That chimney is a nice touch, huh?

It's past Christmas and of course that time consuming idea never saw fruition.
Thats just...opps, not enough rolls:

I should just...ugg, not enough rolls:

None of us wants to leave a box like this behind.
If I died tomorrow, someone would go through my stuff and say:

Monday Multiple Series # 62-Trim the tree

Every year it is the same scenario.

1.) Purchase Christmas tree that sits in water for two weeks.
2). Wait for the hazardous vintage lights to be strung,
3). Cram the ornaments on in last-minute panic.

"Does anyone know the meaning of these ornaments we have collected from our travels around the world?"  I asked.

"Do you think we can just pick our top five favorites each?" I suggest.

"How about just two?" hollered a voice from the sofa.

Two by two the Christmas tree ornament arc was selected.

The personalized ornament from grandma and the elementary school project wreath.

A crocheted angel and a cardboard glitter church from childhood.

The stapled bag of sand from Normandy Beach and the clothespin craft orchestrated by an aunt...really?

The zulu spear and the boat that reminded him of the ferry from a past vacation.
The sweater with the hound on it
An ornament from Finland made from straw.

The rest got packed up in a sealed box for the next generation to ponder.

Monday Multiple Series # 61-Insulated with legos

Cleared out the top of the one wanted any of the free wood or pegboard.
My first curb-side fail.

"All that's left is empty boxes," I proudly tell my husband.

Down came two more boxes of legos.
I don't feel like a small house dweller at all.
I am moving to a small house where the walls are filled with legos.

I didn't accumulate any "things" for my birthday this weekend...score!

Best birthday poem:

She’s getting her small house,
With nary room for a mouse,
To move her cursor across the window,
She’ll have to stick her elbow out the … window,

Monday Multiple Series # 60-Multiple tools of the trade

The majority of our shelves are empty, except the one with that holds the tools.
A new set of screwdrivers arrived at the house to replace all the stripped and mismatched ones.

Over and over I promise my kids if they clean up anything there is usually a treasure to find.
Can you see it?

The missing piece to the puzzle game that will now complete the set. Score!

Monday Multiple Series # 59-Multiple home ownership

I'm back.
I left this blog for over a month as I was living a double life with two houses.
We bought a cozy small house, yep we did.

Let go of the old... 3000 square feet

Bring in the new...952 square feet

Monday Multiple Series # 58- On the shelf

Boxes of raisins waiting to be selected over a handful of chocolate chips.
I ate one.
I was too busy raking bags of leaves to downsize this weekend.

Monday Multiple Series # 57- Concrete plans for the future

I previously bought these 27 12x12 pavers to help my dog climb our steps.

At 5:15 Sunday evening, those cement pavers sat in the corner of our backyard. The whole summer I have searched for utilitarian uses for those hunks of cement. I marched out and took this photo, then listed them on the "free" Craigslist as the sun was setting hoping that someone had a plan.
Darkness settled in as lights came around the corner to fulfill their destiny.

Monday Multiple Series # 56- between the ferns

Here is one of my favorite houses around Como.
I happened to be driving by this weekend and the owner was bringing out two ferns to the curb.
I asked her if she had plans to leave the house and she replied,"never...but you can have a fern"
So I took one.

Monday Multiple Series # 54-With a cherry on top.

Some weeks the decisions are as easy as, "why do we have two bottles of maraschino cherries?"

And others could be life changing.

Let's see how today ends up.
